In June 2010 Louise Abbott completed 5 years teaching maths at Hebron School in South India. Hebron is a non-profit making, independent, international school with a non-denominational Christian basis, which aims to provide a sound education to all children. Originally Hebron was created to educate children of Christian workers in Asia. However, whilst the needs of such children are still a priority, it now provides for children from a range of backgrounds.
As well as teaching maths, Louise has many roles outside the classroom, including being dorm support to the Standard 9 boys (13 years old), a Youth Fellowship leader and a prayer-breakfast coordinator. She has also undertaken a new pastoral care role this year, and continues to support the young people during sporting events and choreographs dance routines and directs the drama for school productions. Through both academic and extra curricular activities, Louise is presented with many opportunities to impact young people’s lives for God.
Louise still has close contact with Mizpah Childrens’ Home, run by Mizpah and his wife Jennifer. Mizpah Childrens’ Home provides a family environment for orphans and victims of substance abuse, riots and natural calamities, in an atmosphere of love and security, based upon Christian principles. With financial help from Muckamore Church, Louise is able to sponsor a child, along with other members of our congregation, to provide food, shelter, education and medical care.
Louise feels it’s God’s will to extend her contract for 2 further years, and she greatly appreciated all the financial and continued prayerful support to enable her to serve God overseas.
Please pray for the headmaster and staff working hard at Hebron School. Pray that they might have wisdom and guidance to deal with the many discipline issues. Pray for Louise’s continue health and strength in the coming days, so that she can serve God wholeheartedly in the areas that He desires. Please also pray for safety for both staff and pupils throughout the year.
