In 2005 I headed to India for a year, however God had different plans. Six years on I continue to love teaching in Hebron School, an International Mission School in South India. The students and staff come from all over the world and I have grown to love this community in which I live and teach.
The majority of children in Hebron are boarders and so alongside teaching Maths I have the joy of living with twenty boys aged 13-15. Food and sport tend to be the favoured activities; Saturdays and evenings consist of a lot of energetic games and eating everything from noodles to fifteens! Of course we can never take the place of their parents but Hebron does become home and an extended family to us all.
Muckamore has been a fantastic support throughout my time away and it has been brilliant to have many friends and family come and visit. Some enjoyed the experience more than others; Traffic, spicy food, overnight trains and the unexpected animals walking alongside you on the street all take a bit of getting used to!
Mizpah Home, a local orphanage benefits greatly from the generosity of Muckamore people. This includes seven children in the home being sponsored, providing them with basic clothing, food and education. It also enables me to help with building and development projects. What a joy to see the happiness of children who have so little materially yet so much spiritually.
The most difficult thing about Hebron is the constant change. Just as you are really getting to know people they often move on. We have over thirty staff leaving in June and need new teachers for most subjects. If you would like to find out more about Hebron and its work have a look at www.hebronooty.org. As I head back to Hebron for another term please pray that the Lord will use all that is done there to win lives for His glory and that those young people who know Jesus will continue to grow in Him. Pray that all the staff vacancies will be filled to ensure that families on the mission field in Asia can continue in their work, assured that the educational, physical and spiritual needs of their children are being met. Thanks so much. God bless you all, Louise.
