Target

Target

Target is an opportunity for men in Muckamore to spend time with each other - getting to know each other, encouraging each other, helping each other and sharing stories from our lives! We have already had a year of activities - 6 in all - and have now planned a further series of six activities over the year to come. We would love you to join with us and to bring a friend or two as well.  The more the merrier!

The first event will be taking place in November 2010. To kick things off this year we are heading to the Odyssey arena for some ten-pin bowling followed by an all-you-can-eat buffet in Pizza Hut. We have booked 10 lanes at the Odyssey and hope to gather up around 60 men for this - so please do come along!

Following on from the very successful Big Breakfast Morning, where a full cooked Irish breakfast was served and we enjoyed Andrew White, one of Ireland’s top cricketers, sharing his story with us, we are hosting another Big Breakfast in the Dunadry Inn in March 2011 from 8am to 10am. Again, we hope to hear from a top sportsman.

Other events this year include a possible visit to Bombardier Aerospace, an “all age” football tournament, a Challenge Night and a Golf Day. These will all be advertised in the coming months.

It is really important that you book your place for any of the activities as soon as possible. There are a number of ways that you can do this:

  • Speak to the event organiser;
  • Put your name down on the sign up sheet in the church foyer;
  • Contact either Philip Marks on 07976 556 269 or Brian Hill on 07816 752 177;
  • Email:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Target events have proved of great benefit to everyone that has come along. However, can we go further? Can we try and put our collective strengths together for the benefit of those who maybe don’t have the resources that we have? There are many deserving needs in the world today - and through Target, we are beginning to look at ways in which men at Muckamore could reach out and help:

  • A congregation in Ireland who have difficulty sustaining their witness, through lack of resources;
  • A church in Eastern Europe who find it difficult to reach out to their people because they dont have adequate resources;
  • A group of people in Africa who need fundamental skills and knowledge to allow them to have daily provisions, sanitation, education and skills.

If you might be interested in doing something practical in the next few years, please let us know by emailing:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Target Planning Team is working to the following strategy over the next 3-4 years:

Year 1 (2009-2010) Familiarity - through the activities planned we start to build a trust among men to talk, share, help and encourage each other as we live and work.

Year 2 (2010-2011) Friendship - through the activities we plan we need to deepen our relationships with each other, but more significantly with our Heavenly Father, so that we see the need to reach out into our local community and beyond.

Year 3 (2011-2012) Function - it would be really significant for each of us, for Muckamore and ultimately for God’s Kingdom, through the programme we plan, to build capacity to take a group of men to serve “somewhere”.

Will you join us as we see our plan set out, a path to follow and a point that we can aim for - that’s the TARGET!
