Tuesday mornings, 10.30am to 12noon, September to June each year.
The group was established to enable parents with young children to share with others in similar circumstances in a caring and welcoming environment. We aim to reach out to parents/carers in the community and use opportunities to publicise events which are going on in our family-friendly Church.
We are open to all in the community - mums, dads, grandparents and carers with babies to pre-school children. On average, 20-25 adults attend each week (with 1, 2 or 3 children each). Of these, about 75% are not members of our Church. The hall is well supplied with toys and facilities providing the opportunity to meet, chat and play safely and securely.
Although an informal group, we operate a structured routine each week, which the children really respond to. This includes free play time, a healthy snack for toddlers and tea/coffee for adults, song time and bikes/trikes. Occasionally, we do special activities such as craft, a sponsored toddle, puppet shows and of course a Christmas party.
Here’s one person’s thoughts on Mothers and Toddlers:
“As a grandmother I enjoy taking my granddaughter, Grace, to Mothers and Toddlers, where parents and grandparents can enjoy a morning of fun and fellowship together. Helen and her team of willing helpers provide various activities throughout the year, as well as toast and fruit for the children each week, and not to mention a much needed cup of tea for us. As each morning comes to an end, we all love to watch the children as they follow Lisa’s actions in their games and songs - their faces say it all!”
