Agnes Hanlon

Agnes Hanlon

As a child I lived with my mum and dad, 2 brothers and 1 sister in a place called Caugherty (Hill Billy country!). We were brought up in a very humble home for which I was very thankful. Every Sunday we attended church in the morning and evening and Sunday School in the afternoon. At about the age of 15 we went to communion classes and then went before the elders to take our communion, but really I didn’t realise what I was doing. At the age of 21 I decided to get married and had 3 children. In about 1972 we decided to come to live in Dunadry and to go to Muckamore Church. I’m so glad God had this in His plan for me.

God gave me a vision one night that I was going to be asked to be caretaker of his church. And I couldn’t believe my eyes when a fortnight later Mrs Steel was standing dressed as I had seen her waiting to ask me if I would take on the job of caretaker. I am so glad I said yes, for it was after that that God really started to work with me. In August 1974 I gave my life totally over to Him. I have had many ups and downs in my life but God has always been faithful.

Being part of Muckamore Church means everything to me. As I clean God’s church I can be alone with Him. These times are very special to me. I am not an up-front person, but if I can help anyone I will gladly do it. I think this is what the Christian life is all about. I just love to spend time with people that are alone, sometimes giving a little of your time goes a long way. I just hope and pray that everyone in Muckamore will one day know my Jesus, who just means everything to me.
